Oil City, Pennsylvania is the sort of small rust-belt town where things don't change much and outsiders are viewed with suspicion.  When the filmmaker, a native son, returns to announce his same-sex wedding and help a gay teen who is being tormented at school, the conservative rural community faces a turning point.

 

 

OUT IN THE SILENCE is Qwaves' first feature-length documentary and was produced with the  generous support of the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program and the Pennsylvania Public Television Network.  An official selection of the Human Rights Watch International Film Festival, OUT IN THE SILENCE has won recognition and awards from numerous film festivals and will be broadcast nationally on PBS beginning in 2010.  Check the official website for screenings and airdates.
