a feature length work in progress
The filmmaker’s own same-sex wedding announcement in a small town newspaper sets off a firestorm of controversy. Over the course of two years, with camera in hand, he tangles with family values advocates, follows the trials and tribulations of a grassroots diversity group, forms an unlikely friendship with a fundamentalist minister, and works with a courageous group of teens who refuse to be silent about the violence and discrimination they face in school. Ultimately, the film portrays, with emotion and candor from all sides, the struggle for justice and equality for GLBT people that is playing out around the country and shows that it is in the hearts and minds of small town America that this battle will someday be won.
